A set of reclaimed York stone steps put in for a customer with some difficulty in walking. The longer term view is they may also be used with a wheelchair, hence the width.

 

A gravel channel runs down either side, to redirect water during wetter months, like a tiny wet/dry stream. In bigger landscapes these are referred to as a 'winterbourne'.
